After two weeks of action, the Class 3A coaches’ poll has seen the most movement with all but two spots shuffled. Top-ranked Eagan maintained its position by sweeping Minneapolis Southwest and Chanhassen at the end of August, while No. 2 Lakeville North is also unbeaten, beginning September with a 3-0 record.
Prior Lake (2-2) slid two spots to No. 4 after the Lakers fell to No. 5 Hopkins and No. 3 Champlin Park since the last poll was released. The Rebels rose two spots after a five-set victory over No. 7 Stillwater on Aug. 26 and a sweep of Prior Lake on Aug. 31.
East Ridge (1-2), ranked sixth, climbed one spot after picking up a win against Eastview and falling to Lakeville North and the Lakers in August.
Shakopee held its place at No. 8, while No. 9 went to top 10 newcomer Minnetonka. Moorhead, which dropped games to the Skippers and Waconia before picking up its first win of the season by defeating Sioux Falls Washington (S.D.), is No. 10.
The top six spots in the Class 2A poll remain unchanged from the preseason poll. Maple Lake is No. 1 followed by No. 2 Stewartville, No. 3 Kasson-Mantorville, No. 4 Southwest Christian, No. 5 Marshall and No. 6 North Branch.
Concordia Academy made a splash, jumping from No. 10 to No. 7 after a 3-1 win over Hill-Murray on Aug. 29.
Eighth-ranked Roseau overtook Sauk Centre’s place in the rankings as the the No. 9 Mainstreeters dropped after falling to No. 1 Maple Lake, Albany and Rocori in the Albany Invitational on Aug. 25. Totino-Grace (0-2) rounds out the poll, sliding down one spot to No. 10 after stumbling against Class 3A competitions with North St. Paul and Mounds View.
Every team in the Class 1A top 5 held its ground. Mayer Lutheran is No. 1, followed by No. 2 Hayfield, No. 3 Caledonia, No. 4 Bethlehem Academy and No. 5 Tracy-Milroy-Balaton. Mabel-Canton moved up a spot to No. 6 after an impressive 10-0 start the season. Rush City (0-1) hasn’t registered a win yet, sending the No. 8 Tigers down two spots and making room for seventh-ranked Wadena-Deer Creek.
Waterville-Elysian-Morristown and Underwood maintained their spots at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.
